Hanging Up My Apron...

Well, it is official. After much thought I've decided to hang up my apron for awhile, at least as it relates to doing cakes for profit. I am sure there are still plenty of cakes in my future, but they'll be for family, close friends, or just to experiment if I want! I have a feeling I may have time (and energy) to do some experimenting now that I'll have some extra time on my hands. Maybe even try some new recipes, as I never wanted to use my customers as guinea pigs! So the blog will continue...though change focus a little.
-
Also, I *still* want to do a fondant bow video demonstration, if I can get past gasping at how ridiculous I look and sound on video. :-) I tried to do a demo yesterday and caught myself rolling my eyes at the camera when I got tongue-tied; then laughing at myself at how stoooooopid I looked. At least I can laugh. But I have a feeling there are a few cake-decorating enthusiasts out there that would like a bow demonstration. I may have to resort to a photo demo.
-
As my cakes from now on will be for pleasure instead of profit, I considered changing my blog title to "Purely for Pleasure"...however, after much contemplation, I've decided I might get traffic from people looking for something other than cakes....so I've nixed that idea. ;-)
-
While I was googling for apron pictures to go with this post, I happened upon the cutest little sewing blog, where I found this photo...

-
So I'll leave you with that for now. Maybe I'll have time now to sew my own apron! There is a thought...
-
Hope everyone is having a good week!

Awwww.

I love looking at your cakes.

Promise you'll still post pics of the ones you do.

And yes, we're all waiting for that bow demo!

Yours are the best!

Well...I am bummed to say the least. I loved seeing your work. Please post a bow demonstration. I could really use one. I have a cake due on Friday that I am supposed to do a bow on. Right now the plan is to buy one.

Lisa, I'm happy for you. I know you'll relish the time you can now spend with your sweet family. So are you still registered for the class in Austin in October?

Thanks Tracye, Amanda and Sandra.

Yep, Sandra, it's paid in full. I did think about just giving my slot to a certain person I know would enjoy it, but I think my selfish desires will not allow that and I'll be there to see you and take that class. lol

aawww, bummer. I love seeing your new creations each week. Hopefully, now that you'll be doing it for you and not others, you'll still be able to get at least one a week in :D - a girl can hope, right??

And please do make that bow demo! Video or photo, I don't care. I've tried methods I found on Cake Central, and I still can't make a decent bow.

In fact, I'd love to see any and all demos you have in your brain!! I'll still check back often!

Good for you, Lisa. I love your cakes, but I'm sure you'll think of other fun things to fill your time and tell us about. :)
